The Kansas City Polymer Clay Guild meets at the Heartland Bead Market at 13964 Santa Fe Trail Drive (95th and Santa Fe, 3 blocks west of old location) in Lenexa, Kansas

  • on the second Tuesday of most months from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. We have a short business meeting, show-and-tell and a demonstration of a polymer clay technique or project.(Jan, Mar, Apr, June, July, Sept, Oct, Dec)
  • once a quarter on Saturday, 12:00 - 4:00 pm, for Clay Play Days (This takes the place of our regular Tuesday night for the months of Feb, May, Aug & Nov) 
  • PLUS! monthly extra Free-Play Day every 4th Saturday, from 12 - 4 pm. Bring your problems to get help with or something to work on in a relaxed group setting.
  • See below for 2012 demo schedule, subject to change.

You are welcome to visit twice for free before joining. Yearly membership dues are $25. Dues renewal for members is January or the month you joined.

Kashigata (Japanese Sugar Molds) - Robin Young

This is a Saturday play day/demo so bring your clays, pasta machine and other tools.
Materials
2 oz black clay
2-3 oz red clay mixture: 2/3 part red (such as cadmium red Premo--), 1/3 part burnt umber
(if using Kato, try blend 4 parts Brown, 1 part Red, 1/2 part Black, as per http://shadesofclay.com/more/Color%20Recipes.htm)
metal foil, optional

Tools
Basic tool kit (including pasta machine; roller; work surface; blades)
corn starch pounce if available

This should be really interesting to see. We hope you all stretch yourselves and participate in this challenge.


APRIL 14-15  Mandala Beads and More...

Featuring Barb Fajardo - 2011 Niche Award Winner - who will teach a 2 day workshop. We will create various textured designs on scrap polymer clay that are inspired by ancient Henna and Mendhi tattoo art.
Using simple tools such as ball stylus and needle tools we will explore “Texture Doodling.”
Using what we’ve practiced, we will then create simple round domed beads.
On the second day, you will create an endless variety of shaped domed beads including flowers, snowflakes, butterflies, crosses and hearts.
I will also teach my painting technique which has been compared to Stained Glass and reveals the most amazing shades of color and depth.
